SEARHC was established in 1975 under the provisions of the Indian Self-Determination Act as a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska. The intent of this legislation was to have Indian Health Service programs and facilities turned over to tribal management. Our contracting with IHS began in 1976 when we took over management of the Community Health Aides Program. In 1982, we took over operation of the IHS Juneau clinic, now the Ethel Lund Medical Center, and took over operation of Sitka’s Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in 1986. We are one of the oldest and largest Native-run health organizations in the nation.


Position Summary

The Project Manager provides support for projects of differing complexity undertaken by the Executive leadership team.  Projects may include areas such as program development, growth and expansion initiatives, strategic business affiliations, improvements supporting best practices in hospital and ambulatory care, and strategic communications. The Project Manager is a key SEARHC liaison, with multiple  internal collaborators and external partners.

 

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or other master’s-level health professional degree, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or other health- or business-related area will be considered with additional experience as detailed in the first bullet under experience.

 

Experience:  

  • At least two years demonstrated progressive, relevant experience that includes project development and management, program planning, development and implementation, strategic communications, budget and financial processes, advanced word processing and spreadsheet applications. A bachelor’s degree applicant will require an additional two years of experience to qualify.
  • Two years of supervision, management, or consultative work with professional level staff.
  • Two years of experience working in a health care environment.

 

Certification:  

  • Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), American College of Healthcare Executive (ACHE) or similar certification demonstrating excellence in health care administration and planning or Leadership Certification program.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.
