Purchasing Agent (Fixtures, Furniture, and Equipment)


SEARHC was established in 1975 under the provisions of the Indian Self-Determination Act as a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska. The intent of this legislation was to have Indian Health Service programs and facilities turned over to tribal management. Our contracting with IHS began in 1976 when we took over management of the Community Health Aides Program. In 1982, we took over operation of the IHS Juneau clinic, now the Ethel Lund Medical Center, and took over operation of Sitka’s Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in 1986. We are one of the oldest and largest Native-run health organizations in the nation. 


Position Summary

The Purchasing Agent, Fixtures, Furniture, and Equipment (PA, FF&E) is responsible for work side by side with other purchasing specialists and managers, as well as construction project managers, interior designers and architects on both small and large-scale medical equipment and commercial furnishing procurement projects.

The PA, FF&E will be given ownership for the procurement of FF&E for key SEARHC-wide projects with the responsibility of sourcing, bidding, value engineering and purchasing all specified products specified for the patient care, public space and exterior areas as requested by the various department and service line leaders. Managing the vendor selection, contracting, and procurement process, as well as coordinating procurement systems with other SEARHC financial systems (ex., Accounts Payable) to assure a high reliability FF&E procurement process with caregivers at all SEARHC sites, smooth trading partner transactions, and standardized procurement work processes throughout the health system. 



  • High school required.
  • Some college-level business, supply chain, project management, or architectural design education preferred.  


  • 5 years’ experience with procurement, supply chain, or commercial FF&E design, healthcare preferred.
  • Business or contract analysis experience preferred.
  • MMIS (currently Lawson) experience a plus.
  • ERP experience – preferably Lawson – preferred.
