SEARHC was established in 1975 under the provisions of the Indian Self-Determination Act as a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska. The intent of this legislation was to have Indian Health Service programs and facilities turned over to tribal management. Our contracting with IHS began in 1976 when we took over management of the Community Health Aides Program. In 1982, we took over operation of the IHS Juneau clinic, now the Ethel Lund Medical Center, and took over operation of Sitka’s Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in 1986. We are one of the oldest and largest Native-run health organizations in the nation.                               

 

Position Summary

Responsible in managing the daily operations and functions of the Accounts Payable department.  Manager will ensure that invoices are paid accurately and in a timely manner, based on vendor agreements.  Manages customer relations and responds to inquiries from internal and external customers.  Manages monthly and annual closing of payables data and ensures proper expense accruals are recorded to the correct periods.  Responsible for selection and hiring of personnel for Accounts Payable vacancies.  Trains and evaluates Accounts Payable staff for performance and improvements as needed.  Addresses staff performance issues and personnel actions.

 

Position Complexities

This position is responsible for managing the Accounts Payable functions and staff to process invoices in an efficient manner. Ensures that payments to vendors are made timely (i.e. monthly rentals, utilities and monthly recurring payment, essential in the daily operations of SEARHC). Ensures accuracy and timeliness of AP functions. Coordinates procurement processes with Supply Chain Manager to ensure accuracy of PO matching and payments. Reviews payment requests for proper documentation and accurate coding.
 

Position Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Business Education or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years Accounts Payable experience in a computerized environment.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
