Family Practice Advanced Practice Clinician
SEARHC was established in 1975 under the provisions of the Indian Self-Determination Act as a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska. The intent of this legislation was to have Indian Health Service programs and facilities turned over to tribal management. Our contracting with IHS began in 1976 when we took over management of the Community Health Aides Program. In 1982, we took over operation of the IHS Juneau clinic, now the Ethel Lund Medical Center, and took over operation of Sitka’s Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in 1986. We are one of the oldest and largest Native-run health organizations in the nation.
The Alma Cook Medical Center, Hydaburg, Alaska (population ~ 350) on Prince of Wales Island is seeking a committed and compassionate Advanced Practice Clinician (NP or PA) to lead primary care services focused acute and chronic care and improving population health. This is a sole provider practice with a support team consisting of a medical assistant, receptionist, referral/travel specialist, and behavioral health advocate.
The clinic is part of the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC), a Native-run healthcare organization serving communities throughout Southeast Alaska since 1975.
Hydaburg lies about 40 miles by road from Craig, Alaska. Prince of Wales Island is the 4th largest island in the United States and offers an incredible opportunity for salt and fresh water fishing, hunting, gardening, outdoor adventure, and rich in Alaska Native culture, tradition, and history.
SEARHC offers a competitive physician salary, annual CME days and stipend, annual vacation, paid holidays, health insurance, matching retirement, life insurance, liability insurance coverage under the FTCA, innovative family leave benefits, and additional training opportunities. NHSC, and IHS loan repayment programs are possible.
