Description
Position Summary:
The position functions within the Mental Health Outpatient Department to provide comprehensive psychological assessment, outpatient psychological services, program development, and outreach services to referred patients of all ages, with consultation services to Mount Edgecumbe Hospital, inpatient programs and the ER (Sitka Campus). Other mental health activities may also be assigned that benefit patients, SEARHC, or the community at large.

Baseline Qualification Requirements:
*Ph.D. or Psy.D. in a field such as Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology. An equivalent course of study could be a doctorate in education in the specialty of Child Development with an emphasis on attachment that is supplemented with direct clinical supervision hours as required by APA and State of Alaska Statutes.
*Doctoral degree must be from an APA accredited resident based, non-distance learning program. Person must be eligible at time of hire for Alaska State Licensure in the employees professional discipline. Additionally, must be eligible for Alaska State Substance Abuse Certification at Level II Counselor or National Certification as Addiction Counselor I or II (NADAAC) within one year of hiring.
*One year experience in clinical supervision is required.
*3 years specialized professional experience that demonstrates a combination of substance abuse and mental health client services. Such experience can be gained through experience in both fields concomitantly (as in a dual diagnosis program which accepts co morbid clients), or in consecutive experience in each discipline. Demonstrated experience effectively networking with other providers and agencies and aptitude at systems development is required.
*Alaska State Licensed issued by the Board of Psychology or license eligible within 1 year.

Other:
*Preference is given to persons who demonstrate a minimum of one year cultural experience working with Alaska Natives/American Indians in human services.
